Accessibility statement

How accessible this website and the sites we build are, what we have tested, what we know is not right yet, and how to tell us.

Version 2026-09-20

1. Our commitment

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA on this website and on every website we build. For our clients this is contractual, not aspirational: an inaccessible site excludes customers and exposes the business that owns it under the Equality Act 2010.

That means, in practice: every part of the site usable with a keyboard alone, text that reads correctly in a screen reader, colour contrast that clears the standard, content that survives being zoomed to 200%, and nothing that depends on colour or hearing alone to make sense.

2. How we test

  • A keyboard-only pass on every interactive flow: nothing reachable by mouse that is not reachable by Tab, focus visible at every step, focus order matching reading order, and Escape returning focus where it came from.
  • Landmark and heading structure checked in the accessibility tree, with exactly one main region per page and every control carrying an accessible name.
  • Layout checked at 1280px and 375px, and at 200% zoom.
  • Colour contrast checked against the tokens in our design system rather than eyeballed per component.

Every page listed in our sitemap is also checked automatically, on every change, by axe-core against WCAG 2.2 level AA — at a desktop width and again at 375px wide, where we also check that nothing forces the page to scroll sideways. A change that introduces a violation does not reach the site.

Automated checks find a minority of accessibility problems — around a third, on the industry's own figures. They cannot tell whether a heading makes sense, whether focus moves somewhere useful, or whether a screen reader announces something confusing. The passes listed above are still done by hand and are still where most of what we find comes from. Tracked as The limits of automated testing, stated so the line above is not read as more than it is.

3. What we know is not right yet

This website is being built in public, and most of it is not finished. Being specific about that is more useful than a general disclaimer.

  • Several links in the navigation and footer point at pages that do not exist yet. Those are shown as plain text marked "coming soon" rather than as links, so you will not be sent to a missing page — but a screen reader will still announce them as part of the navigation.
  • The site is not yet visually designed. Spacing, colour and typography will change, and we will re-check contrast and focus visibility when they do.
  • We have not yet tested with every combination of screen reader and browser. If yours behaves differently from what we describe, we would like to know.

4. Tell us about a problem

If you cannot use part of this site, or you need something from it in a different format, email us and say what happened and what you were using. We aim to reply within 2 business days, and we will tell you what we are going to do and when — not just that we have noted it.

If you are a client and you find an accessibility problem on a site we built for you, report it as a P2 under your care plan and we will treat it as a defect, not a change request.

5. If we do not put it right

The Equality Act 2010 requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments. If you contact us about an accessibility problem and are not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service at equalityadvisoryservice.com.
